Music is the vibration of sound that we hear. ~ OM ~
Sound has a tremendous power to condition our consciousness. Most conditioning occurs through the medium of sound, particularly as words. Whether as words or music no other sensory potential has such capacity to affect us. Sound moves the heart and mind influencing us in the superconscious, subconscious and conscious mind.
Different sound formations make up the different functions of the mind. The sound vibration of impressions and information make up the outer mind (manas). The sound vibration of abstract knowledge, principles and ideals sustains intelligence. The sound vibration of our deepest feelings and intuition makes up the inner mind or consciousness (chitta). The ultimate source of sound is the spiritual heart or the center of consciousness; where our Christ consciousness is anchored; and is our connection to our higher Self (atman); our I Am Presence from which the eternal sound or Divine word radiates.
To cleanse the mind, to remove its negative conditioning and replace it with one that is beneficial, is the essence of psychological and spiritual healing. The therapeutic use of sound is the central tool. There are many ways to use sound in healing. Counseling is largely verbal. The use of music is therapeutic. In Ayurvedic healing the most important sound therapy is Mantra. Mantra means "Mananat Trayati iti Mantra" (that which saves).
Mantras are specially energized sounds or words. They may be simple single sounds like
Control of the mind and the unfolding of the hidden powers of the mind (siddhis) arise through the power of Mantra. Mantra is the main method of treating consciousness (chitta) and is helpful for healing all levels of the mind. Mantra allows us to change the vibratory pattern of consciousness. It is a direct method for dealing with the mind. The mantra changes the energetic structure of the mind which dissolves the problem and changes the energy of the mental field, while thinking of the problem can reinforce it. Our consciousness consists of deep-rooted habits and tendencies and even scars from past, painful and unpleasant memories. Our memories are the subtle sound vibrations that we retain in our consciousness. Mantra repetition simply means repeating a sentence or group of words that have a phonetic significance.
Mantra is completed related to sound. Mantra is sound, and sound is reverberating in everything in this universe. When water flows, the gurgling sound it makes, is Mantra. When wind blows through the trees, the rustling sound it produces is Mantra. When we walk on the earth, our footsteps produce sound, and that too is Mantra. Within human beings there is a self-born, indestructible sound which repeats itself constantly, along with our breathing, and this sound is also a Mantra. Sound has enormous power, in fact it has the power to create an entire universe. It is written that God originally manifested as sound.
(In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. New Testament, John1:1-2)
According to ancient Indian belief in the beginning there was sound, which reverberated as Om and from that sound everything came into existence. Even modern scientist is beginning to recognize as our ancient sages did, that there exists a vibration which reverberates ceaselessly throughout the cosmos. When letters and syllables come together, they form words. Both our spiritual and our mundane life are possible only because of words. Without language, we can not carry out any of our activities. Each word we use has its own power and produces it own reaction. A Mantra is no ordinary combination of letters and syllables, but a living force. The name of God is not different from God. Mantra has been called the sound-body of God. It is God in the form of sound.
In Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna says, " Among rituals, I am the ritual of mantra repetition."
Lord Krishna means that while other techniques are means of attaining oneness with God, Mantra is the ritual of his very Being. That is why it is so easy to experience God by repeating the Mantra. Mantra meditation is the repetition of a group of words which creates sound vibrations that awaken the love of God in our hearts and mind.
In the scriptures there are different Mantras especially relevant for different matters. It is important to choose the correct Mantra that deals with your personal requirement (need)
to feel and experience the full healing benefits from a Mantra. You can ask Gurudevi to choose a Mantra for your personal issue.

Moola Mantras are powerful sounds and are very rich in their meaning which when chanted produce great effects. These are chanted repeatedly and that is called Japa; a key part of Hindu prayer, also referred to as devotional Bhakti Yoga.
While doing Japa meditate on the mantra and its meaning. As the mind dwells more and more into that, the mind is taken up to the higher states of cosmic consciousness and bliss.

Vedas are full of moola mantras and have been preserved for ages in their pure form by utilizing the letters (svara) PATHA, KRAMA, JATA, GANA PATAS. These various techniques ensure that the chanter clearly gets the correct letters and even the correct level of sound for each moola mantra. Definition #1:
Moola mantras are energy-based sounds. Saying any word produces an actual
physical vibration. Over time, if we know the effect of that vibration, then the
word may come to have meaning associated with it. If the actual physical vibration
is coupled with a mental intention, the vibration then contains an additional mental component, which influences the result of saying it. The sound is the carrier wave
and the intent is overlaid upon the waveform, just as a colored gel influences the
appearance and effect of a white light. Meditation while chanting increases the deep
inner awakening and divine love for God.
Moola mantras are words based upon the energy of God. Nowhere is this idea truer
than for the Sanskrit moola mantra. The only lasting beneficial result or effect of saying
the moola mantra is the technique passed on from generation to generation.
Definition #2:
Moola mantras create thought-energy waves. The human consciousness is really a collection of states of consciousness, which exist throughout the physical and subtle bodies. The individual body consciousness is overlaid by the system of the sub-consciousness mind with subtle body counterparts and consciousness, then on to the superconsciousness mind which is the inner Christ Self which radiates the cosmic light and frequencies of the inner white fire core from the I Am Presence of each Son and Daughter of God created by God. It is through the connection of the crystal cord to the I Am Presence that we are sustained. The crystal cord vibrates to the sound of ee
Definition #3:
Moola mantras are tools of power and tools for power. The word "moola mantra" is derived from two Sanskrit words. Moola mantra is, at its core, a tool used by the mind, which eventually frees one from the vagaries of the mind. But the journey from moola mantra to freedom is a wondrous one. In the case of moola mantra, this power is tangible and wieldable. Statements about Moola mantras have close, approximate one-to-one direct language-based translation. Definitions of moola mantras are oriented toward either the results of repeating the moola mantra or of the intentions of the original framers and testers of the moola mantra. In Sanskrit, sounds which have no direct translation but which contain great power which can be "grown" from it are called "seed moola mantras." For example; the moola mantra "Hirim" or Hireem is the seed sound for the principle of abundance.
Although the oral tradition predates written speech by centuries, those earliest oral records were annotated on palm leaves which clearly designated a specific sage as the "seer" of the moola mantra. Relationship between the moola mantra sound, either vocalized or sub vocalized, and the charkas located throughout the body. Moola mantras are energy, which can be likened to fire. Similarly, moola mantra can bring a positive and beneficial result, or it can produce an energy meltdown when misused or practiced without some guidance. Moola mantra energizes prana. A massage therapist can transfer prana with beneficial effect. For instance, by saying a certain moola mantra while visualizing an internal organ bathed in light, the specific power of the moola mantra can become concentrated there with great beneficial effect.
Moola mantras eventually quiet the mind. At a deep level, subconscious mind is a collective consciousness of all the forms of primitive consciousnesses, which exist throughout the physical and subtle bodies. The dedicated use of moola mantra will go into subconscious crystallized thoughts stored in the organs and glands and transform these bodily parts into repositories of peace.
